Health Occupations

This program meets the requirements for the Illinois Department of Public Health Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program.

Graphic Design / Commercial Arts

Students will be given experiences in advertising, computer graphics, paste-up design, sign painting, fashion design, interior design, and display design.

Office Technology / Business Entrepreneur

Provides practical experience on how to work in a business environment, with an emphasis on small business management and entrepreneurship

Auto Body

Students will learn how to uses and how to properly care for tools of the trade, skills needed for welding, replacing and repairing parts and panels as well as interior and exterior cleanup.

Auto Mechanics

Students will get experience in engine tune-up & over-haul, suspension, brakes, wheel balancing, electrical systems, fuel injection, emission control and much more.

This program provides learning experiences related to the principles, tools, materials, techniques, equipment and processes utilized in the production, layouts, plans and blueprints.

Welding / Metal Fabrication

This program provides experience in different type of welding and cutting, basic math, blueprint reading and layout, metallurgy, fabrication, and repair.

The mission of OKAW Area Vocational Center is to empower students to better their lives and contribute positively to the organizations and communities in which they work and live. We accomplish this by providing students real-world experience through extensive hands-on learning. Students are given the opportunity to practice valuable work skills preparing them for careers in health, business, and technical or professional fields. Each program offered at OKAW Area Vocational Center incorporates the following ten traits that form the core of the Work Ethics curriculum: Attendance, Character, Teamwork, Appearance, Attitude, Productivity, Organizational Skills, Communication, Cooperation, and Respect.
